About the team

Shoreline Construction and Development, is based in the Hilton Head/Bluffton area and was founded in 2006 by owner Chris Dalzell. Shoreline specializes in quality low country style construction to fit each client’s unique lifestyle and budget. Our team of professional project managers, superintendents and talented interior designers allows us to offer a full range of outstanding service.  We are there to help each client, from the very beginning phases of design, throughout the entire building experience. The designers work “hand in hand” with our team of craftsman to bring to life your home of timeless detail and character. We also pride ourselves on our ever increasing knowledge of current construction trends, green building materials, and energy efficiency

In 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 Shoreline has been honored to be awarded numerous Hilton Head Area Homebuilders Association Lighthouse awards including:  Best Overall Home, Best Exterior, Best Kitchen and Best Bath. Shoreline was selected to be the builder for the Palmetto Bluff River Road Idea Homes, which have reached completion and are open for tours. Also in Palmetto Bluff, we have completed building the beautiful Southern Living Magazine 2014 Idea House. This home will be featured on the cover of Southern Living magazine for August 2014. In addition, we have custom homes being built in Palmetto Bluff, Oldfield, Belfair, Hampton Hall and Hampton Lake.

    Chris Dalzell,  Owner

    Construction Background: Chris entered the home building industry over 10 years ago working for a national home builder before starting Shoreline Construction in the winter of 2006. Chris prides himself with a full understanding of excellence in both construction and customer service. He guarantees that home owners will receive the highest quality craftsmanship and genuine personal attention throughout the life of their project. He also enjoys researching and implementing the latest trends in materials and construction and strives to push his staff to go the extra mile to keep the clients happy and informed. He and his wife, Katie, live in Bluffton along with their three daughters, Emma Kate, Campbell and Anna Price.

    Katie Dalzell,  Interior Designer

    Design Background: After graduating from Georgia Southern University, Katie worked in hospitality design at the AI Group in Atlanta, Georgia before settling in the Lowcountry. She has also worked locally in kitchen and bath design. Once Shoreline was underway, Katie quickly found herself working alongside each and every client. She is there from the initial design phase, such as space planning, to the final stages of construction and furniture placement. Her passion is to guide her clients so that each home reflects the style and authenticity of the owners.

    Molly Barrs,  Interior Designer

    Education and Affiliates:
    • Bachelors of Science in Interior Design at Georgia Southern University, in Statesboro, GA
    Design Background: Molly Barrs earned her Bachelor of Science degree from FIDER accredited Georgia Southern University. She began her career as an intern with a high-end residential/commercial firm, Lascaris Design Group, in Washington DC. After college, she spent several years in the commercial industry doing store layout and design throughout the southeast for a large furniture store chain. Since relocating to Savannah in 2005, she has specialized in new construction. Her diverse experience is expressed through many homes in Savannah, Hilton Head, Bluffton, and throughout the Lowcountry. She prides herself on being a versatile designer that can take a client's style and needs and execute them seamlessly. Molly's knowledge, and attention to detail, ensures the client's vision and ideas will come together effortlessly.

    Edward Welch,  Project Manager

    Construction Background: Edward started in the building industry in year 2000, with a custom home builder in Augusta, GA. After graduating from the University of Georgia, he continued his passion in Asheville, NC, working for a multi-family developer and builder. Edward strives to maintain the highest of standards in fulfilling the client's expectations. His main focus is on quality, cost, schedule and safety.

    Gerri Herbst,  Interior Designer / Project Manger

    • Bachelors of Science in Clothing Textiles and Design at Rutgers University /Douglass College, New Jersey
    Construction Background: After a successful executive apparel career in New York City, Gerri relocated to the Lowcountry and entered the home building business as her encore career. She brings extensive experience in a variety of disciplines including project management, buying, designing, operations and process improvement. With her creative thinking, attention to detail and communication skills; she strives to impact all aspects of our homes from budgeting  to customer satisfaction.

    Steve Housaman,  Operations Manager

    Construction Background: During his 20 year professional construction career, Steve has worked in multiple aspects of the construction industry, including both subcontracting and vending. Previous to Shoreline, Steve was the Project Executive for Phillips Development and Realty LLC in Tampa, Florida responsible for developing and maintaining project schedules. He was also with Lennar Homes, where he served as construction manager. His extensive construction software and information technology skills, equip him for today's high-tech standards. Steve's overall goal is to ensure that contractors deliver the best possible product, on time while remaining within budget for Shoreline Construction.

    Bob Ooley,  Site Superintendent

    Construction Background: With over 20 years of construction management, Bob has experience in different areas the industry, including custom, commercial and production. Previous to Shoreline, he was the owner of SBR Resources, a general contracting company. As a Project Manager for Parkwest and a Superintendent for Pulte Homes, he added the experience of fast paced production home building. Bob brings to Shoreline his ability to keep all trades on schedule, while maintaining quality and keeping all costs in budget. Bob’s personal goal is also to achieve a high level of customer service and satisfaction with our clients.

    Conner West,  Site Superintendent

    Education and Affiliates:
    • Bachelors of Science in Construction Management and Minor in Business at Georgia Southern University, in Statesboro, GA
    • OSHA 30 hour certified
      Construction Background: Conner joined Shoreline from JH Clevland in Augusta, Georgia; where he was a construction estimator. Previous to that, he graduated from Georgia Southern University, with a degree in Construction Management. During his internship, he helped manage the construction of a large commercial apartment complex in Statesboro. He also has spent summers gaining additional experience working in his family’s construction business in Augusta. Conner’s goal is to communicate effectively and efficiently with our Clients and Sub Contactors, while completing our projects on time.

    Michael Fowler,  Site Superintendent

    Education and Affiliates:
    • Bachelors of Science in Construction Management and Minor in Business at Georgia Southern University, in Statesboro, GA
    • OSHA 30 hour certified
    Construction Background: Michael joined Shoreline directly after graduating from Georgia Southern with a degree in Construction Management and a minor in Business. Michael has shown himself to be an effective superintendent and has been given additional responsibilities and projects. Michael’s goal is to give our Clients the home they envisioned with our quality timeless details and design, while delivering it on schedule. He establishes open communication with our Clients and strives to make their entire building process an easy one.

    Daniela Ortega,  Accounting Manager

    Construction Background: Daniela handles all aspects of the Shoreline accounting department and has been part of the team since October 2012.  Immediately after graduating in 2007, she entered the construction industry working in the accounting department for D.R. Horton, as well as; a locally-owned granite company called Stoneworks. In 1998, Daniela moved from California to the Lowcountry, where she has resided ever since. Her combination of practical work experience, communication and analytical skills keep the Shoreline Accounting department organized and running smoothly.
